Our Registered Acupuncturists

Catherine M (Cate) Soroczan, R. Ac

As a registered Acupuncturist and Civil engineer I understand and respects both western and eastern approaches to healing and health. The body is an amazing complex system that nourishes, defends, and communicates with each and every part in ways that Traditional Chinese Medicine has understood for thousands of years but that we in the west are still learning.

I believe that in order to fully heal, the body and mind must strive for balance. This means eating an optimal diet that nourishes the parts of the body that are struggling; addressing emotional issues that cause anger, frustration, over thinking and grief; and ensuring that physical activity is adequately balanced with rest. I look forward to meeting you wherever you are on your path and work with you to achieving greater balance with your health, emotions, and life.

While not all disharmonies can be relieved immediately (some will take a long time to come to balance), I really enjoy seeing the immediate effects of treatment on pain reduction due to stagnation in the body – sometimes the results may seem quite dramatic. Other cases take longer to get good results but reducing pain and increasing mobility is always the goal.

I really enjoy teaching TCM classes to students at my former school and finding the best approaches to impart complex concepts in ways that they can grasp and retain. Acupuncture points are like interesting characters, each with their own unique name and healing ability and I love discussing these with my class in order to get them as excited about acupuncture as I am.

Arlene M. Fleming, R. Ac

My treatment approach is rooted in the belief in the body's ability to self-correct, and return to a state of balance, of homeostasis. My work lies in supporting this, and catering sessions to address the pain/disharmonies of each individual patient.

I am a dual registrant, both a Registered Acupuncturist, and a Registered Massage Therapist (inactive RMT status for the rest of 2021), and am passionate about learning and teaching. I am a dedicated educator: I teach for both the Traditional Chinese Medicine and Massage Therapy programs at the International Academy of Applied Health, where I am also the Program Director for the International Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I love teaching and learning, and witnessing the expansion of the profession first-hand! In addition to teaching and my role as Program Director, I create and write new courses (in the 12 months between April 2020 and 2021, I have written courses in pain and rehabilitation; myology; point functions; needling approaches; techniques of acupuncture; and clinical modalities which is all about moxibustion, cupping, and gua sha).

Through the years, my desire to learn continues. I found acupuncture as an RMT, and practiced acupuncture within my scope of practice as an RMT for several years before deciding to pursue registration as an acupuncturist as well. I've earned an additional certification in Western Herbalism. Some of my additional studies include: Tibetan Acupressure System; Craniosacral therapy (Upledger); Thai Yoga Massage and Reflexology (ITM, Thailand); Reiki; and Balance Method acupuncture (Dr Richard Tan).

I love this work and am delighted that Massage Addict is part of growing TCM by including acupuncture and its respective modalities in its clinics.
